I'm Bringing Gratitude Back (Part 2 of 2)


There are 30 beautiful days remaining in this year so let’s promise to enjoy every single day & let’s try not to get too far ahead of ourselves. I’m beginning the month with feeling-based intentions & a second helping of gratitude so Read Part 1 if you haven’t yet, & then let’s get into the nitty gritty.

 

Consciously bringing gratitude into my daily life has helped me in countless ways. I’m more compassionate & empathetic and I also appreciate each & every bit of this life. The weather, random authentic conversation, morning drives with my grandfather, & nights when my cheeks hurt from laughing really only scratches the surface. This goes for challenging times, too, because there’s a lesson, experience, or bit of wisdom to be gained with everything.

Looking back now, I can see where my mindset began to shift & I can trace the gradual change to present day with the driving force of listening to & integrating what made my heart happy. The first step was a move to southern Vermont which would allow me to discover nature’s beauty & a new side of myself. Over the years, there’s also been a handful of creative undertakings, a few more moves, & enrollment to become a life coach. 

 

BUT WHAT DOES ALL OF THIS HAVE TO DO WITH BEING GRATEFUL?

 

These were all deliberate & intentional decisions, albeit some more sudden than others. I said yes to opportunity despite any & all fear. I welcomed each experience – good, bad, & everything in between.
I chose to carry an attitude of gratitude with me no matter where I went.

there are 4 simple ways to curate an
attitude of gratitude.

 

1. Shift your mindset

Make the decision to truly experience the situation rather than create expectations & subsequently set yourself up for disappointment. Take the good with the bad & continue making strides toward your desired career, relationship, & life.

2. Give thanks daily

Take time to write down what you are thankful for each & every day. A happiness jar allows you to look back & turn your current day around while a journal is always a good choice.

3. Opt for originality

Choose blank cards so you can fill them with meaningful words & significant quotes rather than standard & superficial thoughts. What’s more, send a handwritten note just because & be prepared to make someone's day.

4. Say 'thank you'

Repeat these words as often as possible when you are genuinely grateful for someone else & their actions. From something as simple as a door being held open to a compliment being thrown your way, your gratitude will have a positive impact.

 
Make it a habit to tell people thank you. To express your appreciation, sincerely and without the expectation of anything in return. Truly appreciate those around you, and you’ll soon find many others around you. Truly appreciate life, and you’ll find that you have more of it.

As with any skill you plan on carrying with you through life, approaching all things with gratitude requires practice & perseverance. and then, before you know it, you'll have a different outlook & more meaningful engagement during your everyday life.
