It's all in the name.

HAPPY NEW YEAR & HELLO, 2016

I’ve heard a few people refer to this year as ‘Sweet Sixteen’ & I’m digging that term. I spent the first few days easing into the newness before returning to my to-do-list-tackling self. I truly hope you had a wonderful set of holidays that were simultaneously entertaining & relaxing.

I figure the start of a new year is the perfect time for us to become even closer with one another so what better way to kick things off than to dive into where the name Thriving Adventure came from?

In all honesty, I had a hard time thinking up a name for my online home because nothing was quite right & I felt very much against using my name. I made lists upon lists of core words. I threw words together to create phrases. Then I surveyed a select few people for their opinions & reactions. I landed on ‘Thriving Adventure’ during this process but it wasn’t doing the job for the people around me so I continued what felt like an endless search for the perfect name. I was tired of racking my brain after a few months so I said screw it.

I liked Thriving Adventure the second those two words appeared together & I thought that represented a life lived well to a T.

The word thrive means to flourish or succeed, and who doesn’t want to do just that in every aspect of life? And my favorite definition of adventure is an exciting or remarkable experience. Yes, please.

Put the two together & voilà.

I believe life & the respective journeys we are all on should absolutely be a remarkable experience while we grow & flourish in as many ways possible as humans.

IMAGINE THIS:

You’re riding in a car with your significant other or your best buds & you aren’t ready to end your time together. Or say you’re finding yourself bored & itching to get moving with friends. This is the point when I’ll say something like, ‘Let’s do something or go somewhere!’ What I almost always mean is let’s shake things up, get out of the vehicle, & just be. Breathe in the salty ocean air. Stop & listen to the stillness. Take in the sublime landscape.

The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.
— Eleanor Roosevelt

That’s how I want to feel when I wake up everyday.

Eager for what’s to come.
Grateful for the people around me.
Keen to explore the unknown.
Present to savor every bit.

I AM A SELF CONFESSED STUDENT OF LIFE & I WANT TO CONTINUE SEEKING SELF-ACTUALIZATION. I’M ALSO IN FAVOR OF MAKING ROOM FOR EXTRAORDINARY EVENTS & SAYING A WHOLEHEARTED ‘HELL YES’ WHEN THESE OPPORTUNITIES EMERGE. THIS IS A THRIVING ADVENTURE.

And I want you to feel this essence so let me ask you two questions:

Are you truly living your life?

If not, What's holding you back?

Leave a comment below or send me some love.
Either way, I want to hear from you because this is too important to put off even one more day.
